FAQs

  1. What are the benefits of choosing a dual fuel heated towel radiator? Dual fuel towel radiators may be used with either electric or central heating, making them an ideal year-round alternative. In the winter, they may be linked to your central heating system to warm towels and the room, while in the summer, you can use electric heating to dry towels without heating the entire space, providing both convenience and energy economy.

  2. How do I switch between electric and central heating modes on my dual fuel towel radiator? Switching between heating modes is often simple. The Smart Dual Fuel Kit features a smart element that allows you to easily switch between electric and central heating. Instructions for changing modes are often included with the appliance, ensuring a smooth transition based on your heating requirements.

  3. Is the installation process for a dual fuel heated towel radiator complicated? The installation process is intended to be as easy as possible. The kit includes angled valves and a tee piece for connecting to your plumbing and heating system. While DIY installation is possible if you have prior knowledge, it is suggested that you employ a professional plumber or electrician to ensure the system is installed safely and correctly.

Getting both supplies into one rail

The element screws into a bottom inlet — the same inlet the pipework wants. These fittings give both a way in, so the rail runs off the boiler in winter and off the element once it is switched off for summer.

Fitting Choose it when Price Product page
Angled valves with a T-pieceFloor or wall pipes with a T-piece adaptor Pipes come out of the floor, or out of the wall. The T-piece screws in behind one valve and splits that inlet two ways — pipework on one side, element on the other — so this route suits either. £28.98 the pair View angled valves with a t-piece
Dual fuel corner valvesWall pipes only Pipes come out of the wall and you want the tidier job. The split is machined into the valve body, so there is no adaptor sticking out below the rail — one part instead of two. £29.99 View dual fuel corner valves

Running it on the element:close one of the two valves so the heat stays in the rail instead of draining away down the pipework. Either side will do, as long as one is shut. Open it again when the heating goes back on.

The element that heats it when the boiler is off

It screws into a bottom inlet, left or right, and runs the rail on its own out of the heating season. The choice is how much control you want over it — the rating is set by the rail, and we have worked that out below.

Element Control Temperature Size for this rail Price Product page
ER-Touch thermostatic kitMost popularKit: smart element, dual fuel adaptor and a pair of angled valves Touch dial on the element head Set 45–65°C, cycles to hold it 300W rail is 332W £80.00 View er-touch thermostatic kit
Single heat kitEntry levelKit: element, matching T-piece and a pair of angled valves On or off, at the spur or a timer Not adjustable — full output whenever it runs 300W rail is 332W £44.99 View single heat kit
Single heat kit, corner valvesWall pipesKit: element and a pair of dual fuel corner valves — no separate adaptor On or off, at the spur or a timer Not adjustable — full output whenever it runs 300W rail is 332W £50.99 View single heat kit, corner valves

Every kit here comes with the fittings as well as the element, so nothing has to be sourced separately. Bathroom wiring is notifiable work: the element goes to a fused spur and a qualified electrician signs it off.

Warm by the time you are up. An element takes about half an hour to come up to heat, and left switched on it runs all day. A timer starts it before you need it and shuts it off after, which is where the running cost of one actually goes.

Finish the installation

The small parts fitters ask for on the day — caps, collars and hooks that tidy up the job.
