Getting both supplies into one rail
The element screws into a bottom inlet — the same inlet the pipework wants. These fittings give both a way in, so the rail runs off the boiler in winter and off the element once it is switched off for summer.

Running it on the element:close one of the two valves so the heat stays in the rail instead of draining away down the pipework. Either side will do, as long as one is shut. Open it again when the heating goes back on.

The element that heats it when the boiler is off
It screws into a bottom inlet, left or right, and runs the rail on its own out of the heating season. The choice is how much control you want over it — the rating is set by the rail, and we have worked that out below.

Every kit here comes with the fittings as well as the element, so nothing has to be sourced separately. Bathroom wiring is notifiable work: the element goes to a fused spur and a qualified electrician signs it off.
Warm by the time you are up. An element takes about half an hour to come up to heat, and left switched on it runs all day. A timer starts it before you need it and shuts it off after, which is where the running cost of one actually goes.

Great product and great service.
We were pleased to find a supplier who could provide a heated towel rail in the size we required and with a dual fuel option. So many of these towel rails look nice but can’t accommodate many towels, whereas this company offers multiple options. When I needed advice on the type of valves required the customer support was great. The item arrived within 24 hours and has been fitted into the extension we are building. It has not yet been tested so I can’t comment on the performance but so far so good.
